Why Nagaland?

Nagaland is not a mission field but a strategic place to reach other parts of NE India and the Indian sub continent. The reason is because majority of the Naga people are Christians and ready to do missions. The major population of Nagaland is made up of Christianity and there are enough theologically trained and mission minded volunteers to do missions. In 1878, an American missionary by Dr. Clark came to Nagaland with the gospel and since then the gospel has been preached to all the tribes in Nagaland. Nagaland is considered to be almost a cent percent Christian state.

They are not just namesake Christians because they have lived as Christians for over a century now in the midst of so many religions and social evils. There surely is the hand of God involved in preparing the Naga people to be used by God to reach out to their neighbouring states and the rest of mainland India. They can also be likened to the remnants (Rom 11:4-5) for the whole of India, China and West Asia.

Jesus came not only to redeem the lost souls but also to give us an abundant and a wholistic life. To fulfil the Great Commission means to meet the social, physical and spiritual needs of the people as well. That's why Withee is involving many way in Nagaland. We need to preach good news to the poor, to release the oppressed, to give sight to the blind... etc as found in Luke 4:18 Cf Isaiah 61: -2.
